A Fairy Tale…
Listen closely my friends, as I tell a tale that will
truly amaze you…
Once upon a time, there was a man named Dave . . .
David Beadles to be exact. Dave
was a minister. Way back in the
olden days, in 1976, Dave was assigned to be the Senior Pastor at the Anaheim
United Methodist Church. He stayed
there nine whole years before he left to go to another church, far, far away.
Dave kept in touch with Anaheim United Methodist
Church – to say “Hi” to friends, to help out at church services every once in a
while, and sometimes to preach.
The people at Anaheim United Methodist Church liked that.
Many years later, Dave retired as a minister. That meant he could be lazy and do
whatever he wanted to do – just as long as his wife, Judy agreed. He could also sleep in on Sunday
morning.
But then Dave became un-retired and returned to
Anaheim United Methodist Church to be an Interim Pastor in early 2008. This really helped out the church.
Then, he retired again.
But Dave kept in touch with Anaheim United Methodist
church – to say “Hi” to friends, to help out at church services every once in a
while, and sometimes to preach.
The people at Anaheim United Methodist Church liked that.
And then Dave un-retired yet another time so he could
be Interim Senior Pastor at AUMC in early 2009. He helped the church through a tough time.
Then . . . Dave retired again.
The Anaheim United Methodist Church Family love Dave
and Judy Beadles, and are really thankful for many, many years of service. So they made Dave a “Pastor Emeritus”,
which is a fancy term that means Dave will be an honorary minister to Anaheim
United Methodist Church forever.
And the people of Anaheim United Methodist Church
hope Dave keeps in touch – to say “Hi” to friends, to help out at church
services every once in a while, and sometimes maybe even to preach.
The people at Anaheim United Methodist Church really
like that.
. . . and this Fairy Tale came true!
