In the next few weeks we will be starting a book titled The Gift Of Years, Growing Older Gracefully by Joan Chittister. We have come to know Joan Chittister as a remarkable and articulate
writer. Each of the 42 chapters is self-contained. Here is a sample of some of the chapters: The
Purpose of Life; Regret; Meaning; Fear; Ageism; Joy; Authority; Transformation; Newness;
Accomplishment; Possibility; Adjustment; Fulfillment; Mystery ;Relationships
Quote from Chittister’s chapter on Meaning: “ 'It is not by muscle, speed, or physical dexterity that
great things are achieved,’ Cicero wrote over two thousand years ago, ‘but by reflection, force of
character, and judgement. In these qualities, old age is usually not only not poorer, but is even richer.’
We invite you to join us! Questions? Talk to Mary Ann Jones or Loren Du Puy.
Studies are offered throughout the year, studying specific books of the
