What is Scrip?

Scrip is an on-going fundraising program of Anaheim United Methodist Church.  When you purchase "scrip" you purchase gift certificates from retails shops.  There are hundreds of restaurants and retail outlets from which to choose.  Scrip is for well-known places that you already shop like Starbucks, Ralphs, Wal-Mart, the Gap and Chevron.  To see a complete list of retailers participating in this program, you can go to the scrip website.

How does it help my church?

The Great Lakes Scrip center acts on behalf of churches, schools and other non-profit organizations to purchase large amounts of scrip from grocery stores, department stores, and other retailers. Because the scrip is purchased with cash up front, the participating retailers offer a substantial discount. Your organization buys the scrip from Great Lakes Scrip Center at a discount, and re-sells the certificates to your organization members for full face value. The bulk of the discount - from two to fifteen percent or more - is retained by your organization as revenue.

How do I use Scrip?

Use it just like cash at the appropriate stores or venues.  Scrip also makes a wonderful gift for anyone for a special occasion or just to say "Thanks" for some reason.

How can I purchase Scrip?

Scrip is available in the church office during normal business hours, and on Sunday mornings in the Information Booth.

It is a painless way to help your church.
