Serving BREAKFAST in the PARK

Join friends on the fourth Saturday of every month as we serve breakfast to the homeless and others in need.  We are now serving breakfast at Boysen Park (Airplane Park, State College/Vermont) and La Palma Park (Harbor/La Palma).  We meet in the church kitchen at 6:30 a.m. to prepare the food and head over to the parks at 7:30
a.m. to begin serving.  We try to be finished by 9:00 a.m.

Next Breakfast in the Park  -  May 26

We hope to have you join us as we fellowship and serve those in need in our community.  See you
there!

If you are unable to help with the cooking or the serving in the Park but would like to participate in some way, you may make a donation.  Any donation is appreciated.  Donations can be of either money or food items we may be serving.  (Call Joanne in the church office for a list of food items.)  Additional items we always need are foil squares to wrap food in, foam cups, napkins, paper towels, coffee, creamer, plastic bags (recycle your old shopping bags!), and trash bags.  In addition, we heed help with . . .
HYGIENE KITS

Every month for Breakfast in the Park we’ve been handing out hygiene kits.  This month we weren’t able to hand as many out because we ran out of supplies.  We really need the following items.  If you have them, see them on sale, and are willing and able, please donate them to satisfy this need.  Or, you can make a monetary donation and we will purchase the items.  We need the travel size or hotel size:

BARS OF BATH SOAP

ANTI BACTERICAL HAND SANITIZER

TOOTHBRUSHES

TOOTHPASTE

SOCKS – MEN & WOMEN (preferably dark socks)

TISSUE PACKS

SHAMPOO

CONDITIONER

RAZORS (Disposable)

SMALL COMBS

1 Gallon Zip-lock Bags to put the items in

Some of these hygiene kits are packages specifically for women.  (Women were having a real problem finding feminine hygiene products.)  If you have travel-size items: lotion, tampons, or sanitary napkins, and don't know what to do with them, we'll be happy to take them off your hands.

AND - Any jackets, sweaters, or warm clothing in good repair that you would like to donate, we will pass them on to those in need.
Thank you!

January 25, 2012

On Monday night we packed 50 Men’s Hygiene kits and 30 Women’s Hygiene kits.  We could not have done this without your very generous donations.  We have enough socks, toothpaste and toothbrushes to the next few months.  Your generosity is overwhelming!!!  There are a few things we will be needing next month in order to pack another 80 Hygiene kits.  (see the list above.)   If you happen to see any of these items on sale or have extra you would like to donate, drop them in the box marked “Hygiene Kits” by the office and we’ll get them.  Don’t forget any cold weather clothing you’re not able to use or wear anymore.
