Ways to Serve on Sunday Morning
We are in community with one another at AUMC! It takes
many people serving on Sunday mornings to make AUMC a place of welcome
and hospitality:
Serving Opportunity: Acolyte
Description: Lead the clergy into the sanctuary and light the altar candles, Present and receive the offering plates, Assist the pastors with various tasks such as helping with baptisms.
Time Commitment: One-year commitment, Service in worship is approximately every 4 weeks.
Hours: 10:30 am worship hour
Special Abilities: Positive attitude and willingness to help.

Serving Opportunity: Altar Flowers
Description: Provide funds for the altar flowers at Sunday Worship. Flowers can be dedicated to honor a special person or special day, or in memory of someone special. Flowers are yours to take home at the end of worship - or you may give them away or ask the church to send them to someone special.

Serving Opportunity: Chancel Choir Singer
Description: The Chancel Choir sings during the Sunday morning 10:30 service. We are always looking for people who like to sing and have fun, as we worship in song.
Time Commitment: 1 1/2 hours on Thursday evenings, 1 1/2 hours on Sunday mornings
Hours: Choir practice - Thursdays, 7:30 p.m. Sunday service - Sunday, 10:00 am-11:30 am. (Please note: the choir will begin practices again on September 3, 2009, after their summer vacation.)
Special Abilities: A willingness to sing, have fun and praise God

Serving Opportunity: Church Van Driver
Description: Drive the church van on Sunday mornings. Pick up people from their homes and bring them to 10:30 worship services. Return them to their homes after worship.
Time Commitment: Minimum one-year commitment, driving the van one Sunday per month.
Hours: Approximately 9:00 am - 12:30 pm
Special Abilities: Valid drivers license and good driving record. Insurance regulations require drivers be between the ages of 25-70.

Serving Opportunity: Reader
Description: Read scripture during worship.
Time Commitment: One-year commitment, Service in worship is approximately once every 8 weeks.
Hours: 8:30 am and 10:30 worship hours
Special Abilities: Ability to read clearly in front of the congregation.

Serving Opportunity: Tech Booth
Description: Manage the sound board and powerpoint during worship services, Arrive 30 minutes early to set-up sound equipment and other AV equipment, make audio copies of worship services.
Time Commitment: One-year commitment, Service in worship is approximately every 2 weeks.
Hours: First Service – 8:00 – 9:30 am, Second Service – 10:00– 11:45 am
Special Abilities: Some knowledge of AV equipment (training is available), attention to detail, ability to work under pressure, adaptability.

Serving Opportunity: Usher, 8:30 am service
Description: Hand out worship bulletins, collect offering, Light altar candles, Assist in other ways during the worship service.
Time Commitment: One-year commitment, Service in worship is approximately every 2 weeks
Hours: 8:15 am - 9:30 am (for the 8:30 am worship hour)
Special Abilities: Willingness to serve and to work as part of a team.

Serving Opportunity: Usher, 10:30 am service
Description: Hand out worship bulletins, collect offering, Assist in other ways during the worship service.
Time Commitment: One-year minimum commitment. Ushers work every other month.
Hours: 10:00 am - 11:45 am (for the 10:30 am worship hour)
Special Abilities: Willingness to serve and to work as part of a team.
