Reaching Out and Serving Our Community
Then the king will say to those at his right hand, ‘Come, you that are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world; for I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you gave me clothing, I was sick and you took care of me, I was in prison and you visited me.’ Matthew 25:34-36
AUMC follows the Gospel mandate to love one another. Our members support works of mercy and justice throughout Orange County and throughout the world. AUMC offers one day projects, drives and weekly opportunities throughout the year. There are many ways to serve.
Lunches of Love provides shelf stable bagged lunches to those in need.
Panera Bread has partnered with with many organizations like ours to reduce food waste and to combat hunger.
We pick up the donation from Panera bread on Wednesday late evenings and deliver it to Mary’s Kitchen on Thursday mornings.
Commitment: About an hour once a month.
These boxes are filled with shelf stable items. We deliver these boxes to three local Community Family Resource Centers in Anaheim.
We gather once a month to prepare 100+ sandwiches to be used in the sack lunches distributed at Mary’s Kitchen.
AUMC and NAUMC partner to support this Second Harvest Mobile Pantry. Families are able to get fresh produce and other pantry items.
We partner with SeniorServ to visit those seniors in our community that are in need of companionship.
Each year we partner with SeniorServ to brighten the Holidays of seniors in the community. Our congregation collects items from the list provided by SeniorServ and gift cards (Walmart and Target). We fill the bags with these items. The bags are then delivered to seniors who are a part of their programs.
We support 75-100 gift bags each Christmas Season.
Interfaith Shelter Network
ISN is a network of primarily faith groups who assist homeless guests in their journey to regain stability and safety. This program helps them to gain employment, connect to services, and save money to secure permanent housing.
We host 8-10 guests for 2-4 weeks each year. Our church provides housing and meals to the guest during their stay. We are blessed to be a part of this program again.
We offer gently used (and on occasion new) clothing to those in need.
Each year Circle of Hope, a women’s group at AUMC, hosts a Community Rummage Sale.
Circle of Hope provides coupons to purchase clothing and bedding items. The Mission & Outreach team issues these gift certificates to those guests who are in need that we assist through other programs.
