Small Group Book Study

Hello AUMC Family!

I am excited to be starting another small group book study!

We will be reading Nadia Bolz-Weber’s “Shameless: A Sexual Reformation”. It is her latest book and, I believe, very relevant to what we are going through as a United Methodist Church as well as in broader society. Some of the topics she tackles in this book are:

  • Adam and Eve story
  • Church History Influences on LGBTQ acceptance
  • Abortions
  • Sexual Trauma
  • Divorce
  • Purity Culture

Many of these are very heavy topics, loaded with emotional and political trauma and/or vitriol… and I want to treat them with respect. That being said, this will be a safe space for all thoughts and opinions on these topics. All are welcome to attend. We can only benefit from seeking to learn from one another.

This will be a 5 week study, meeting Thursday nights in the library at 6:30P, starting Thursday May 23rd!

Here are the dates and chapters assigned:

May 23rd– Invocation, Chapters 1-2 (pages 1-48)

May 30th– Chapters 3-4 (pages 49-75)

June 6th– Chapters 5-6 (pages 77-118)

June 13th– Chapters 7-8 (pages 119-148)

June 20th– Chapters 9-12 (pages 149- 198)

You can buy her book at any Barnes and Noble Store or on Amazon. Here is link. (

We can also order a book for you if it is easier. Please contact Pastor Nicole.

Looking forward to growing in faith, in witness to one another, and into a deeper community of love and trust over these five weeks!

Let me know if you have any questions, or if you plan on attending! There will be coffee and tea to sip while we chat!

In Peace,

Pastor Nicole Armstrong
