As a part of our “Building for Tomorrow” capital campaign, we are pursuing grant funding through the West District Union of our Annual Conference. The West District Union helps to fund physical improvements to local church buildings to address health and safety, deferred maintenance, or to help with new projects or major remodels. A subcommittee of the Trustees is working on proposals to update our fire alarm system, which is original to our 50-year-old building. They are also considering applying for support to remodel the courtyard restrooms, which are used throughout the week by church and community groups, and particularly on Thursdays during our Neighbor’s Pantry food ministry. These safety and hospitality updates are needed and improve our ability to extend ministry in our neighborhood.
One key aspect of applying for these grants is demonstrating how the local church is contributing financially toward these deferred maintenance efforts as well. Our ‘Building for Tomorrow’ campaign has many aspects, and these grants will help all of our giving and stewardship go that much further. We hope to hear back about whether we receive grant support for these projects by the fall. Thanks to the Trustees who are working on this application, and to the District for the support they offer many churches such as ours!”
