Our very own Minister of Music, Herman Hope, has been extended a wonderful opportunity for music development and travel this summer!
Through the University of Miami’s Frost School of Music, Herman will have the opportunity to travel to Salzburg, Austria in July and August. While there, Herman will study music, performance, and language with world-renowned musicians and artists. The program changes the horizons and perspectives of young artists with this once-in-a-lifetime academic and musical experience abroad. Now many more brilliant student musicians can explore their passion for vocal performance and work with prestigious singers and conductors, studying technique and honing their performing skills, all while absorbing the culture and history of beautiful Salzburg.
For more information about the program, please visit the Frost School of Music website here.
To enable Herman to take advantage of this exciting opportunity, he will be hosting a fundraiser concert on Saturday, May 28th at 2PM in the AUMC sanctuary. The concert will feature a variety of musical selections from classical to musical theater, and Herman will be performing alongside soprano Paloma Pallante, and musicians John Elg, Stephanie Getz, and Kevin Phan.
There are multiple donation options if you feel led to contribute. You are welcome to donate in person by either bringing cash or checks to the concert, where they will be accepted, or you can also stop by the church office after Sunday worship or from M-TH 9am-3pm. If you prefer using checks for your donation, please ensure they are made out to AUMC with “Herman Hope- Salzburg” in the memo line.
Alternatively, you are welcome to donate directly to Herman via Church Center. You can find the link to our giving page here, or you can download the Church Center app. To give through Church Center, enter the donation amount and select “Herman Hope, Choral Studies, Salzburg” from the dropdown menu. You’ll also be asked to enter your name and contact information.
However you choose to support Herman in his pursuit of this opportunity this summer, he appreciates your encouragement and prayers and has been blessed by all of your love as he settles into his role as Minister of Music!
