Highlights for Worship: April 4th 2021

Please Join Us for Holy Week:

To conclude our season of Lent, we will offer creative virtual worship experiences on Holy Thursday, April 1st at 7 PM (live-streamed), Good Friday, April 2nd at 7 PM (prerecorded), and Easter Sunday at 10 AM (prerecorded).  And, see information below on attending in-person 10 AM Easter Sunday Worship at AUMC.

Holy Thursday Service, April 1st at 7 PM, will be a live Zoom worship service, where we will experience the story of Jesus’ Last Supper and the washing of his disciples’ feet. We will share in Holy Communion during this live worship experience (bring your own bread & cup!). Please click here to join the Holy Thursday Service via Zoom at 7:00 pm on April 1st.

Good Friday Service, April 2nd, 7 PM, is a powerful video Tenebrae Service of Candlelight and Song. The scriptural story of Christ’s Passion will be read as our choir members lead us in songs echoing the story of Jesus’s resurrection. This video service will be viewed the same way as you view our recorded Sunday morning worship services. This video service will be emailed Thursday (tomorrow) like our Sunday worship service, or you can follow this link to watch this service on our YouTube Channel on Friday, April 2nd at 7:00 pm.

Easter Sunday, April 4, 10 AM

Please join us for in-person worship here at AUMC! To attend, simply register here or by using the link included in the Sunday worship service emailed to you on Sunday morning. This is the first of our monthly in-person services, held on the first Sunday of each month. Also, you may worship via our video service that will be sent on Sundays as in previous weeks.

Other weekly services will continue to be offered through high-quality video worship recordings. Please note we will not have Drive-thru Communion this Sunday.

Reflection of the Week

Highlights of Worship: March 28th 2021

Perhaps you are the kind of person who loves an “unfinished” movie. Or you may be the type who does not, and cries out in protest when a film ends unresolved! The Gospel of Mark’s account of Jesus’ resurrection seems unfinished. Three women hear news of Jesus’ resurrection, but have no proof, and run away frightened.

We are left unsure of the conclusion. It’s a fitting Easter story for 2021 as we all remain so uncertain about what the future will bring. Let us heed God’s invitation in Mark 16:1-8 to trust the Spirit to finish Jesus’ story and the story of our lives.

Blessings

Pastor James

Scripture Passages of the Week

Mark 16:1-8

When the sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices, so that they might go and anoint him. And very early on the first day of the week, when the sun had risen, they went to the tomb. They had been saying to one another, ‘Who will roll away the stone for us from the entrance to the tomb?’ When they looked up, they saw that the stone, which was very large, had already been rolled back. As they entered the tomb, they saw a young man, dressed in a white robe, sitting on the right side; and they were alarmed. But he said to them, ‘Do not be alarmed; you are looking for Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He has been raised; he is not here. Look, there is the place they laid him. But go, tell his disciples and Peter that he is going ahead of you to Galilee; there you will see him, just as he told you.’ So they went out and fled from the tomb, for terror and amazement had seized them; and they said nothing to anyone, for they were afraid.
