Hunger in America

The Neighbors in Need pantry shared the following video to highlight the importance of caring for and serving our community. This is especially important when it comes to providing food to those who are in need.

This video comes from Feeding America, a network that partners with food banks and distributors across the nation. The Feeding America network is the nation’s largest domestic hunger-relief organization, working to connect people with food and end hunger. Donors, staff, and volunteers all play an important role in their efforts to end hunger in the United States.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, 42 million people may face hunger in the U.S. — including more than 13 million children. Hunger knows no boundaries — it touches every community in the U.S., including your own. To learn more about the facts, and the impact of hunger, click here.

The good news is that our very own Neighbors in Need pantry is helping to address the growing hunger concerns in our area. Each week, the dedicated volunteers carefully unload and package up hundreds of pounds of food from various distributors. They welcome many families every Thursday and have been instrumental in providing essential supplies and ingredients.

If you or anyone you know can benefit from a food box, please visit the church website at www.anaheimumc.org, or click here to be taken directly to the request form. If you would like to volunteer to help during the week at the food pantry, please contact Lee Strohm or Sandie Duff.
