Reaching Out and Serving Our Community
Then the king will say to those at his right hand, ‘Come, you that are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world; for I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you gave me clothing, I was sick and you took care of me, I was in prison and you visited me.’ Matthew 25:34-36
AUMC follows the Gospel mandate to love one another. Our members support works of mercy and justice throughout Orange County and throughout the world. AUMC offers one day projects, drives and weekly opportunities throughout the year. There are many ways to serve.
Hunger Ministry
Each Thursday from 11 AM to 1 PM we distribute a box with shelf stable items and fresh items (frozen meat, produce, baked goods) to those facing food insecurity. We also assist with clothing and other items as they are available. If you need food, please click this link to register for a food box & items.
We have a great team of hardworking volunteers who work weekly to make sure our neighbors are not hungry. Would you like to be a part of this amazing team? Click here!
Commitment: You can volunteer for as little as two hours a month.
AUMC and NAUMC partner to support this Second Harvest Mobile Pantry. Families are able to get fresh produce and other pantry items.
Seniors
We partner with SeniorServ to visit those seniors in our community that are in need of companionship.
Each year we partner with SeniorServ to brighten the Holidays of seniors in the community. Our congregation collects items from the list provided by SeniorServ and gift cards (Walmart and Target). We fill the bags with these items. The bags are then delivered to seniors who are a part of their programs.
We support 75-100 gift bags each Christmas Season.
Clothing Ministries
We offer gently used (and on occasion new) clothing to those in need.
Each year Circle of Hope, a women’s group at AUMC, hosts a Community Rummage Sale.
Circle of Hope provides coupons to purchase clothing and bedding items. The Mission & Outreach team issues these gift certificates to those guests who are in need that we assist through other programs.
