Thanksgiving with Us

Dear Friends and Members of Anaheim UMC,

In one of the books of poetry in the Bible, the psalmist writes, “O give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; for his steadfast love endures forever.” (Psalm 107:1).

In this season of giving thanks, gathering with loved ones, and sharing in holiday meals, it is important to us as people of faith to offer our gratitude to God. It is valuable to pause and reflect on the places, people, and events who impact our lives for the better. To remember the ways we have experienced God’s love, in both good and challenging seasons.

There are several opportunities for us to put our gratitude into action this year:

  1. We will have an Interfaith Thanksgiving Service on Sunday, November 12th, 3pm in our Sanctuary. We are grateful to welcome friends from Temple Beth Emet, Temple Beth Tikvah, and Fullerton UMC. Please plan to worship with us, in person or online.

  1. We will gather for our Thanksgiving Sunday potluck following worship on November 19th, and have a Family Ministry service project planned to support Neighbor’s Pantry. To learn more about stewardship, please visit www.anaheimumc.org/2024-stewardship.

  1. Later that same day, we will help to host a Newcomer’s Friendsgiving meal with interfaith, non-profit partners. If you would like to volunteer to serve, please contact the office.

  1. There will be ‘Special Offering’ envelopes in the pews and in the Church office throughout the month of November. This offering will go toward the ‘Good Samaritan Fund,’ to support direct assistance to people who come to the church seeking emergency assistance.

I am grateful to God for this journey of faith that we share. May the steadfast love of God surround you, and guide us all, in this season and the year ahead.

Blessings,

Pastor Jessica
