Today at 7 PM Ash Wednesday Virtual Service

Today at 7 PM, our Ash Wednesday Virtual Service will begin. It will be hosted via YouTube Livestream (new) and Zoom (our normal medium).

Dear AUMC Family & Friends,

I am looking forward to observing Ash Wednesday with you as we begin our Lenten journey. Today Cheri Smith, our Worship Committee Chair, and I were blessed with imposing ashes for those who came to our drive-through at the church. We even had folks find out about this online who joined us today.

In just a short time today, we will begin our Ash Wednesday service as a part of our normal weekly Gather worship.

Each year, Ash Wednesday begins a 40 day period of reflection, fasting, and prayer in preparation for Easter Sunday. This makes for an excellent opportunity to explore our theme “Loving Life,” in which we will discern whether our souls are still in love with life and with God or whether our days of ordinary living have discouraged and fatigued us.

In addition to our Lenten Study book that was mailed to you by Pastor MJ, I will also be using the daily devotions shared by Richard Rohr, a noted theologian. Please follow this link if you would like to sign up for the daily meditations.

I look forward to joining you all on this Lenten journey towards loving life more fully and growing side-by-side in Jesus’ way.

I look forward to seeing you tonight at 7 PM for our Ash Wednesday Virtual Service!

Pastor James
